Cambridge Society of Luxembourg

The Cambridge Society of Luxembourg, the Oxford University Society of Luxembourg, and the London School of Economics Alumni in Luxembourg are coming together to organise a joint Spring Dinner at “ Le Fin Gourmand” restaurant, 2, route d’Esch, L-1470 Luxembourg on Tuesday 5 May, 2015 at 19.30.

The evening will begin with an apératif and zakouskis. The menu, with options, is as follows:

Entrée

Option A.: Maki de saumon en feuille de Nori et robe de Ponko, mousseline au Wasabi, quelques feullles de salade

Option B.: Cassolette de sot-l’y laisse (petits filets de poulet) et de champignons, beurre mousseux aux fines herbes et linguette croustillant de sésame

Option C. (vegetarian).: Asperges sauce mousseline (or without eggs sauce vinaigrette balsamique)

Main Course

Option A.: Filet de dorade croustillant sur sa peau, risotto de coquillages et crème basilic

Option B.: Suprême de pintade farcie en cylindre, pommes fondantes et légumes d’hiver

Option C. (vegetarian): Tofu poêlé à l’huile d’olive et nuage de carottes à la cardamome, coulis de roquette.

Each dish will be accompanied by a glass of wine (Riesling Grand 1er cru Caves Beck de Greiveldange with the entrée, rosé Domaine du Jas d’Esclans or red Domaine de Cantaussel Minervois with the main course), and water

Dessert

Assortiment de mini desserts et mini tartelettes aux fruits en buffet

Café et mignardises

The cost of the evening is €55 for members who have paid their subscription for 2015, €65 for non-members. This is not a “black-tie” event, nor are gowns required :)).

To reserve places, please send an email to secretary@cambridge.lu, copied to michael.tomaszewski@education.lu, indicating the name(s) of the person(s) coming, whether they are  a “paid-up member” or a “non-member”,  and which options you choose for the entrée and main course. Please also transfer the appropriate amount to the Cambridge Society of Luxembourg’s bank account BCEELULL IBAN LU24 0019 3855 9528 0000. Places will only be reserved once payment has been received! The deadline for reservations is Tuesday, 28 April, 2015.

This will be a most enjoyable event bringing together alumni and friends from the three universities, we look forward to seeing lots of you there!

On the Tideway

The annual Boat Race between the Light and the Dark Blues is approaching, and we have booked the Big Screen at the George and Dragon (217, rue Albert Unden, L-2652 Luxembourg) from 17:00. In fact we should talk about the Boat Races, this year is the first one where the women’s race will be rowed over the same course. BBC coverage starts at 17:15, I am reliably informed, which means that they will be showing the women’s race with a time delay (it is scheduled for 16:50, I believe).

But do come along, this is always a fun event. The Oxford lot will be there too, so there should be a fair bit of noise.

There is no charge for this event :)) but the G&D will of course welcome your patronage.
