Membership subscriptions for 2016 now due!!

Dear Cantabrigians,

We circulated just a few days ago the Cambridge Society’s programme of activities for 2016 with no less than 13 events already scheduled. And that did not include the Spring Dinner which we organised last year with the Oxford Society and the LSE Alumni group. As soon as we have a date for that one we will add it to the list!

By organising all these activities, the Alumni association wishes to give you all Cambridge alumni in Luxembourg the opportunity to relax and share good moments together, perhaps with some nostalgia for the wonderful times we all spent in Cambridge, through after-work drinks or social dinners; to defend our light blue colours at the annual OxBridge cricket match or when watching the Boat Races; and to help promote our University to future potential students during the spring information event and at the autumn “Foire de l’Etudiant”. And, of course, to enjoy the more formal ambiance of the Michaelmas Dinner.

The Committee of the Cambridge Society is now pleased to invite all Cambridge alumni in Luxembourg to join the association or to renew your membership for 2016 and share in these events and activities.

For those of you who have already completed and submitted the Membership Form and were paid up members in 2015, you simply need to transfer the amount of €30 to the Society’s bank account : BCEELULL IBAN LU24 0019 3855 9528 0000 with your name and the mention “Membership 2016” on the transfer form.

For those of you who wish to become full members – and we encourage all of you to do so – and are on our mailing list but have not yet filled in the Membership Form, you will have received a copy of the form attached to our recent email circular. Please follow the instructions on the form, return the completed form to secretary@cambridge.lu,  and transfer the payment to the Society’s bank account, as instructed above. If you are not yet on our mailing list but wish to join, please contact us using the preliminary information sheet that you will find in the “Join” section of this website. I will then send out the Membership Form to you.

Both you and the Society benefit from your membership fees: you benefit from the discounts that we offer on the price of events for which there is a charge, such as the Michaelmas Dinner, and the Society benefits by being able to cover costs associated with activities such as the Foire de l’Etudiant and the information evening (poster printing costs, refreshments, possible costs of speakers, etc.). If we want, for example, to organise a conference or talk with an outside speaker, we need to be able to fund such an event. So we would like as many of you as possible to support the Society with your membership fee.

Remembering to pay annual membership fees is always a problem. We know that it was by oversight that some alumni on our mailing list did not pay last year. So we suggest that you set up a standing order for your membership subscription, with, say,  15 January as the anniversary date.  It is very simple and convenient, you can do it online if you use web-banking. The membership fee is unlikely to change in the near future.

Finally, if you are on our mailing list but for any reason no longer wish to continue to receive our invitations to events and activities, please send me an email to secretary@cambridge.lu and I will remove your address from our list.

Best regards,

John Speed
Secretary
