Student-Alumni Dinner, Wednesday 20 December, 2017, Novotel Kirchberg

After an excellent Michaelmas Dinner at the Cercle Münster, the next event on the Society’s calendar is the Student-Alumni Dinner which will be held at the Novotel-Kirchberg on Wednesday, 20 December, 2017 starting at 7.00pm.

We held a very similar event last year, it was one of the highlights of the Society’s year, so we want to repeat it. It brings together current students In Cambridge from Luxembourg, including the one Fresher we have this year, undergraduate and graduate students, and the alumni members of the Society. We already have confirmations from 7 students, and are now looking for a good turnout of alumni.

The formula will be similar to last year: we will start with aperitifs at 7.00pm, during which four students/alumni will give us short presentations about their research or a subject of interest. Each one will be about 10 minutes. Last year’s were both interesting and entertaining, so that there was quite a buzz as we then proceeded to the tables for the buffet supper. The Novotel once again will provide us with a copious cold and hot buffet. Students and alumni will mix on the tables.

The students are our guests, so they do not pay for their drinks or food. The Society and the alumni cover the costs of their consumption.

The charge for the buffet for alumni remains the same as last year at €45 per head. All drinks are paid for on the night.

In order to reserve a place, please send me an email at secretary@cambridge.lu saying how many you will be. Spouses, partners, friends are welcome. Please also transfer the appropriate amount to the Society’s bank account (contact me if you don’t know it, I don’t want to broadcast it on the web!) with the mention “Student-Alumni Dinner” . Receipt of the funds confirms your place(s) at the event.

I would be most grateful if you would make your reservations without delay so that we know how many we will be. The deadline for reservations and payment is Sunday, 17 December in the evening.

Please help us to make this event a great success once again!

John Speed, Secretary
